DCCC Football Gearing Up for Start of the Season

Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Dodge City Community College football opens their season in a little over two weeks hosting Highland on Thursday August 24.

Coach Gary Thomas feels like practices have been up and down thus far, but has seen many positives in practice so far.

Thomas says that his biggest concern is on the defensive side of the ball where the Conquistadors have many new faces and a complex defensive system to understand in a short time.

Thomas did praise the offense to this point, saying they’ve looked good so far. The biggest concern on offense is currently figuring out who the backup quarterback will be and says three guys are currently competing for the job. Right now there does not appear to be a leader for that role.

Thomas says the thing he wants to see his team improve on the most is just playing hard on a consistent basis.
