A small Barber County town is cleaning up after strong winds, hail and heavy rain left severe damage over the weekend. Barber County authorities say the storm damaged 42 homes, leaving 17 uninhabitable. The storm also heavily damaged South Barber high schools football stadium according to coach Matt Cantrell.
The Chieftans still plan to play their games at home, the first home game is Sept. 8. Cantrell said he’s proud of the community’s response to the storm damage.
15 businesses were also damaged in Kiowa. Power has been restored in the town.
