GC Chamber to host Democratic Gubernatorial forum

The Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce announced today its plans to host a Kansas Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Forum on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm.

This forum follows the Chamber’s earlier announcement to host a Republican forum on Wednesday, July 11th.  Both forums are open to the public and will feature candidates seeking election to the Kansas Governor’s seat this November.

The forums will take place in the auditorium at Garden City High School, 2720 Buffalo Way, and will begin with a 2 minute opening statement from each candidate, followed by a question and answer session.  Each candidate will then provide a 2 minute statement to close out the forum.  A reception will follow the forum where candidates will have the opportunity to mingle with guests and answer additional questions.

“It is our goal through both the Republican and Democratic forums to provide residents in southwest Kansas the opportunity to hear from each candidate prior to the election” said Myca Bunch, Chamber President. “We are happy the candidates have agreed to attend the forum and visit with western Kansas residents about issues important to them.”

Democratic candidates who have confirmed their attendance are: Carl Brewer, Laura Kelly, and Josh Svaty. Republican confirmed candidates are: Jim Barnett, Kris Kobach, Tracey Mann (Colyer), and Ken Selzer.

Individuals interested in submitting a question for the forum may do so by emailing Chamber President Myca Bunch at mbunch@gardencitychamber.net.  All questions will be pre-screened by the Chamber to prevent duplication and to ensure appropriateness.
