Ulysses football coach passes away

Ulysses, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Tragedy hit Ulysses on Tuesday, as athletc director and head football coach Jason Kenny passed away suddenly Tuesday in Ulysses. He was 47 years old.

Kenny guided the Tigers football program over the past 18 seasons, 24 years overall in the program, and had a career record of 135-60. He also led Ulysses to four straight sub-state championship games in Class 4A from 2004-07, making it to the 2005 state championship game, before falling to Holton in double overtime 28-27. They also went to the sub-state championship game in 2000. His playoff record was 19-15 in 15 playoff apearances. The Tigers made the playoffs 14 consecutive seasons. He was also the an assistant coach for in 2006, and the head coach in the Kansas Shrine Bowl for the West Squad in 2007.

Kenny grew up in Sharon Springs, graduated from Wallace County High School and Kansas State University. He is survived by his wife Andrea and three children.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
