Louise White passed from this life on August 9, 2018, in Quapaw, OK; she was 93.

She was born March 12, 1925, in Lakin Kansas, to John and Eva Moser. Her family moved to a farm 7 ½ miles SW of Hugoton, Kansas, when she was about Five. Louise attended Hugoton area schools until she graduated from Hugoton High School in 1943.

She met Ralph White while working as a secretary at Halliburton; they married on April 23, 1948, in Clayton, New Mexico. Ralph and Louise started their lives in Hugoton, but moved to Liberal a few years later where they lived until Ralph’s death. They had four children, Jeanne, John, Cindy, and Roy.

Louise was a talented pianist. She often played and sang for school events while in High School until one day she realized her singing was more like caterwaulering (her word). From that day on she only played. Her children loved to hear her play songs like ‘Under the Double Eagle’, ‘Black Hawk Waltz’, and ‘Falling Waters’. Her fingers would just fly over those keys.

Being on a budget and having four children created an opportunity for Louise to learn to sew and she became a master at it. While Cindy was in high school she had a special event to attend. She saw a picture of a dress she ADORED in Seventeen Magazine. Louise got busy, putting pattern pieces from 7 different dress patterns together; of course there was a looming deadline. (There always was.) When she finished there it was, an exact replica of the dress in the picture!
In 1963, Louise was voted 2nd runner up for the Eta Beta Chapter Outstanding Woman of the Year Award. She also served as a Red Cross volunteer, and was elected President of the Hospital Auxiliary at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

In later years, Louise became proficient in crochet. She made Afghans for all her children and grandchildren. One she kept for herself was made entirely of single crochet stitches that portrayed an Indian head. It was a work of art. She also crocheted many beautiful intricate matching sweaters and booties for her grandchildren.

Her outdoor activities included hunting and fishing which she enjoyed with her husband, Ralph, and their children. They spent many vacations camping in an old army tent; sleeping on the ground, cooking on an old Coleman Stove, by the light of a Coleman lantern. Good Times!

She is survived by her son, John White, and his wife Barbara; two daughters, Jeanne White, and Cindy Watson and her husband, Danny; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; her sister, Edwina Reid and her husband, Charlie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; three brothers, Keith, Jack, and Roland Moser; three sister-in-laws, Mabel, Maxine, and Dorothy Moser; one son, Roy White; and one grandson, Scott Brecheisen.

Graveside Services will be 10:00am Thursday August 16, 2018 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, Kansas.
