Dodge City man found guilty of unlawful act relating to an ID card

DODGE CITY – A Dodge City man was found guilty of an unlawful act relating to an identification card, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.

Guillermo Alonzo-Ramos, 29, pleaded guilty yesterday in Ford County District Court to one felony count of an unlawful act relating to an identification card. The case stemmed from an investigation by the Office of Special Investigation of the Kansas Department of Revenue, which revealed that Alonzo-Ramos attempted to obtain a driver’s license using false identification. This is the first conviction resulting from a new agreement announced in March between the attorney general’s office and the Department of Revenue. Under the agreement, the attorney general’s office, in cooperation with local prosecutors, assumed responsibility for the prosecution of cases of tax fraud and related crimes investigated by the Department of Revenue in efforts to strengthen the state’s efforts to crack down on these types of crimes.

District Magistrate Judge Keith Whitney took the plea. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Jon Noble of Schmidt’s office.
