Open houses set for Garden City Schools

 

A number of Garden City Public Schools have scheduled an open house for their school.  Open houses provide parents the opportunity to become familiar with the schools, teachers, and classrooms that their children will be attending for the school year.

Open houses on Monday, August 13th include: Alta Brown Elementary School, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.; Abe Hubert Elementary School, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.; Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center, 5:306:30 p.m.; Edith Scheuerman Elementary School, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.; Florence Wilson Elementary School, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.; Garden City High School, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.; Georgia Matthews Elementary School, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.; Horace Good Middle School, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.; Jennie Barker Elementary School, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.; Jennie Wilson Elementary School, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.; Kenneth Henderson Middle School, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.; Plymell Elementary School, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.; and Victor Ornelas Elementary School, 7:15 – 8:00 a.m. and 3:45 – 4:30 p.m.

 Open houses on Tuesday, August 14th, include: Gertrude Walker Elementary School, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Garden City Alternate Education Center, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Garfield Early Childhood Center, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center will hold an open house on Thursday, August 16th, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Buffalo Jones Elementary School will hold an open house on Tuesday, August 21st, from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

The first day of school for the 2018-19 school year will be Tuesday, August 14th, with a half-day orientation for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, seventh grade, ninth and tenth grades and all students new to Garden City Public Schools.  The first full day of school for the district will be Wednesday, August 15, 2018.  All classes will be in session for the start of the 2018-19 school year.
