Governor Colyer proclaims October “Zombie Preparedness Month”

TOPEKA, KAN — Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer has proclaimed October as “Zombie Preparedness Month” after signing the proclamation on Oct. 22 to make it official.

The Kansas Division of Emergency Management has placed special emphasis on reminding the public to be prepared for zombies.

According to the release, “Kansans are at risk to be impacted by many hazards-floods, tornadoes, fires, and other events” said Devan Tucking, section chief, KDEM Response and Recovery Services. “Although zombies aren’t one of those hazards in reality, by preparing to face a zombie apocalypse, you will be ready for any of the others, and have fun while doing it.”

Tucking and Gov. Colyer ask that people be prepared for the unthinkable. Tucking asks that people make a disaster go-kit for your home and car that has food, water, and other essentials to help you survive for a minimum of three days.
