Mega Millions won in South Carolina
The six winning numbers were drawn on Tuesday night and one lucky individual in South Carolina woke up feeling like a billionaire. On Wednesday morning, lottery officials said in a statement that the jackpot was worth $1.537 billion, that’s less than $50 million than the previously estimated jackpot of $1.6 billion.
The South Carolina Lottery announced they will not release any more information at this point other than that the winner purchased a ticket in the state. The officials will not release any more information at this moment due to “security procedures.”
Kansas Lottery Director of Public Affairs, Sally Lunsford announced in a statement sent out on Tuesday night that the total sales from the state of Kansas for Mega Millions was $4,579,551. Lunsford said the peak time was between 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday and Mega Millions sales averaged $6,405 per minute during that hour.
