Dodge City CVB announces Hunting Contest Winners

Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce winners from the Bounty Bird and Rooster Roundup pheasant hunting contests. The CVB ran these two separate hunting contests simultaneously in Ford County for pheasant hunters in the area.
To enter into the Bounty Bird and Rooster Roundup contests, each hunter needed to bring the leg band(s) into the Visitor Information Center by the last day of the pheasant season. By registering their band(s), recipients received a Rooster Roundup hat provided by the CVB and either a $20 Free Play certificate courtesy of Boot Hill Casino & Resort or a hunting flashlight (depending upon the registered hunter’s age). Registered hunters of a Bounty Bird band received a prize generously donated by one of our many local sponsors (listed below) valued from $14 to $200. Registered hunters of a Rooster Roundup band was entered into a grand prize drawing for $500 worth of Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Checks.
Twenty-five Bounty Bird and ten Rooster Roundup contest birds were “bagged” and registered out of the one-hundred-fifty banded birds released in Ford County for the 2018/2019 pheasant season. The recorded bands represented hunters from 11 states and 16 cities combined for these two contests.
The Bounty Bird winners are as listed below:
  • Kenneth Abell from Warren, OH, won a Boot Hill Distillery gift card for registering one banded bird.
  • Ryan Ausmus from Dodge City, KS, won Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Checks for registering one banded bird.
  • Brett Boatright from Dodge City, KS, won an ACE Hardware gift certificate for registering one banded bird.
  • Craig Brown from Greenwood, MO, won a Boot Hill Casino & Resort gift certificate for registering one banded bird.
  • Douglas Coffer from Dodge City, KS, won a Central Station Bar & Grill gift certificate for registering one banded bird.
  • Todd Dean from Mullenville, KS, won a Mariah Hills Golf Course package for registering one banded bird.
  • Anthony Drumm from Dodge City, KS, won Long Branch Lagoon Water Park day passes (two) for registering one banded bird.
  • Kevin Fralick from Dodge City, KS, won a Holiday Inn Express & Suites gift certificate for one free night stay, and a Boot Hill Casino & Resort rifle bag for registering two banded birds.
  • Kevin Freeman from Dodge City, KS, won a Mariah Hills Golf Course package for registering one banded bird.
  • Scott Garrett from Ponca City, OK, won a Mariah Hills Golf Course package, a Guymon Petro Bar & Grill gift certificate, and a Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton gift certificate for one free night stay for registering three banded birds.
  • Greg Keck from Dodge City, KS, won a Quick Draw Oil Change gift certificate for registering one banded bird.
  • Dan McCorkell from Edmond, OK, won a Holiday Inn Express & Suites gift certificate for one free night stay for registering one banded bird.
  • Taylor Miley from Altoona, FL, won Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Checks for registering one banded bird.
  • John Shallenburger from Columbus, KS, won a double the amount of Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Checks for registering two banded birds.
  • Cleo Speer from Wellsville, KS, won a Boot Hill Casino & Resort thermal cup for registering one banded bird.
  • Rex Starnes from Utica, KY, won a Dodge City Brewing gift certificate for registering one banded bird.
  • Matt Stuut from Wichita, KS, won Dodge City Raceway Park ticket vouchers (two) for registering one banded bird.
  • Gary Tenbrink from Spearville, KS, won a Central Station Bar & Grill gift certificate, and Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Checks for registering two banded birds.
  • Manuel Torress from Dodge City, KS, won a Boot Hill Casino & Resort rifle bag for registering one banded bird.
  • Matt Veeder from Dodge City, KS, won Long Branch Lagoon Water Park day passes (two) for registering one banded bird.
The Rooster Roundup contest drawing was held on a LIVE broadcast on the Wild West Country Facebook page on February 1, 2019. The winner, James Wisely of Argyle, TX, won $500 in Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce – Chamber Checks.
The Bounty Bird and Rooster Roundup contests ran from November 10, 2018, to until January 31, 2019. The Bounty Bird contest took place in Ford County only. The Rooster Roundup contest took place in Ford County as well as seven other Southwest Kansas counties including; Finney, Grant, Gray, Hodgeman, Hugoton, Morton, and Seward. Each county awarded a grand prize worth $500 to their drawn winner.
There was no cost to enter; all licensed hunters were welcome to participate and collect prizes.
