Goodland wins GWAC golf, Scott City’s Lewis hits hole-in-one

Garden City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Goodland Cowboy golf team won their first Great West Activities Conference title on Friday at the Buffalo Dunes golf course south of Garden City, hosted by Holcomb High School.

It was Goodland’s first league title since 2015, and dethroned three-time GWAC champion Ulysses, who finished in second. Scott City came in third place.

One of the highlights of the meet came from Scott City junior Jackson Lewis. Lewis hit a hole-in-one on Hole 3, a Par 3 hole.

Taking the top spot was Goodland’s Garin Ihrig, who shot a round of 75. Colby’s Carter Stanley came in second with a score of 80. Austin Perez from Ulysses finished third wiht a score of 80.

Up next is the Class 3A Regional for five of the six league schools on Monday in Goodland. Ulysses heads to the Class 4A Regional at Buhler.
