Two area teams qualify players for state

WaKeeney, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Thursday’s Class 321A Regional Meet in WaKeeney was moved up one day, due to the threat of rain on Friday. The regional would see two area schools qualify players for the state tennis meet in Prairie Village May 10-11.

Scott City would qualify William Cupp in singles and Meade qualified their doubles team of Gatlin Clawson/Korben Clawson and singles player Joan Bartes Vilalte.

Cupp finished fourth overall for Scott City, while the Clawson/Clawson doubles team was fourth and Bartes Vilalte finished fifth.

Ellsworth won the regional, while Larned finished second and Colby was third. Meade came in fourth place and Scott City was fifth. Cimarron finished eighth.
