SCHS girls golfers compete at Hugoton Regional

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beaver girls golf team sent three players to the Class 321A Regional at Hugoton on Monday in what appears to be one of the toughest, if not the toughest regional in the state.

Leading the way was Paige Prewit, who tied for 14th place with a score of 100. She barely missed the cut for qualifying for state. Also competing were Judy Wiebe, who placed 31st, shooting a 122 and Olivia Wagner shot a 134, good for 36th.

All three golfers are juniors.

Goodland won the regional with a team score of 359, followed by Colby with a 362, and Cimarron came in third with a team round of 404. Those three schools will send their golf team to state Monday & Tuesday, October 21 & 22, at the Class 321A State Golf Meet in Salina at Salina Municipal Golf Course. This is the first year that the state golf meet will be a two-day meet.
