Abilene, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)—The Scott City wrestling team knew they would have their first big challenge of the season on Saturday at the Abilene Invitational. It would be a big meet, with it being the one of the few times they would see potential regional opponents in the regular season. In the end, Scott City would find themselves finishing second place as a team.

McPherson, who is No. 5 in the latest KWCA rankings in Class 5A, won the meet with 252.5 points. Scott City finished in second with 199.5 and in third was Pratt with 152 points.

Scott City would have two individuals win their weight class. Kaden Wren would win the 138-pound division, while Justus McDaniel took the 145-pound title.

The Beavers will have nearly three weeks off before competing at the J.R. Durham Invitational in Norton on Saturday, January 11.
