Oliver W. (O.W.) Josserand Obituary

Oliver W. (O.W.) Josserand, age 85, of Johnson, Kansas died Friday, January 24, 2020, at Cottages of Garden City in Garden City, Kansas.  He was born June 5, 1934, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Orvan Emery and Ina Pearl (Winger) Josserand.

O.W. graduated from Stanton County High School in 1952.  He married Nancy Daniels on January 2, 1953, in Clayton, New Mexico.  In 1957, he graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics.  After college, O.W. returned to Johnson and farmed with his dad and brother; and started farming on his own in the late 1960’s.  O.W. served on numerous boards including the USD 452 School Board, Johnson Co-op Board, and was a member of the Jaycee’s. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and served on numerous boards over the years.  O.W. was a private pilot, was interested in politics, history, and was an avid reader. He loved to travel to the mountains in Colorado, spend time with his family at the cabin, and go camping.  

He is survived by his children, Cheryl Adams and husband, Troy, of Johnson, Ellen Marlin and husband, Monty, of Sublette, Jan Lindner and husband, Steve, of Rose Hill, and Steven Josserand and wife, Larilee, of Garden City; brother-in-law, Daryl Daniels and wife, Sally; sister-in-law, Barbara (Daniels) Maerz; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

O.W. is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and brothers, Ivan and Emery. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at First United Methodist Church in Johnson, Kansas, with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating.  Interment will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM Monday, January 27, 2020, with family present from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
