Board of Education Approves Updated 2020-2021 Calendar

The Garden City Public Schools Board of Education approved an updated calendar for the 2020-2021 school year at the July 30^th Board meeting. The change to the calendar is to give the district more time to get prepared for the coming school year due to the COVID-19 virus.

The original start date for the school year was Monday, August 10, 2020. Then the Board voted to move the start date to August 17 to help with the start of the school year. The new start of the school year will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020. There will be a morning session of school that day for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades as well as students new to the district. The first day of school for all students will be Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

August 7^th – 12^th – Orientation for new teachers
August 13^th – 18^th – Inservice for all teachers
August 19^th – 27^th Non-Duty Days
August 28^th – Workday for all teachers
August 31^st – Morning class only for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district, teacher workday in the afternoon
September 1^st – First full day of school for all students
September 7^th – Labor Day observed no school
September 28^th – Teacher Inservice
October 15^th – Teacher Inservice
October 16^th – Teacher Workday
October 22^nd and 23^rd – Parent Teacher Conferences
November 25^th – 27^th – Fall Vacation
November 30^th – Teacher Inservice
December 23^rd – January 1^st – Winter Vacation
January 4^th – Teacher Inservice
January 5^th – Teacher Workday
January 6^th – School Resumes
January 29^th – New Teacher Inservice
February 18^th – Teacher Inservice
