South Gray’s Croft leads West to shutout win in 8-Man I All-Star Game

Beloit (westernkansasnews.com)–South Gray’s Coulter Croft was a dominating force all season long for the Rebels in their 8-Man I State Runner-up season in 2011. Croft would score a pair of touchdowns that proved to be enough for the West team in a 36-0 win over the East in the 8-Man I All-Star Game at Beloit’s Trojan Field Saturday.

Croft scored the game’s first touchdown on a one-yard run in the second quarter. The two-point conversion made it 8-0 for the West, and that ended up being the halftime score.

Things opened up for the West in the second half, as they built a 24-0 lead going into the final frame. Croft’s second touchdown run would be a 74-yard run early in the fourth quarter to make it 30-0. Kiowa County’s Ross Binford helped put the final touches on the scoreboard late in the game, as he scored on a three-yard plunge to make it 36-0.

On the day Croft finished with 90 yards on only four carries. Binford rushed for 32 yards on 18 carries, and throwing for 18 yards.

It was the first shutout since 2o04, and the fourth all time in 8-Man All-Star Game history. In the 8-Man I series, the West now holds an 8-4 lead over the East.
