GCHS Fall Sports Summary From Thursday

Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – Nearly all of the Garden City High School fall sports teams were in action in on Thursday and on the road. The GCHS Lady Buffs Volleyball team won all three matches at the Ulysses Quad yesterday, beating the Tigers in three sets, 29-27, 15-25, 25-14. Then getting refocused to dominate Pratt 25-21, 25-20 and then rounding the evening with a Western Athletic Conference match with Hays, the Lady Buffs collected their 3rd WAC victory on the year by crushing the Lady Indians in straight sets 25-16, 25-19. Garden City moves to 6-4 on the year 3-0 in Conference.

The Buffalo Cross Country teams had a great day at the Hays Invitational, as the girls placed first in the nine team field. The Lady Buffs were led by junior Alex Miller with a first place finish in a time 14:41.5, Kayla Doll was 3rd in 14:57 and Chelsea Jackson 4th in 14:59.8. Garden City won the meet with 34 points, Maize South 2nd, Great Bend 3rd and Dodge City 4th. For the Buffalo boys, it was a little tougher outing finishing 4th as a team, with Dodge City taking the top honors with 53 points, followed by Liberal and Hays. Garden City had three top twenty finishes, with senior Jacob Thomas placing 6th overall in17:26.1, Jalen Rowland finished 18th in a time of18:14.8 and Aaron Peters was 20th in 18:17.9. The Buffalo Cross Country will travel to Lawrence for a a big invitational on Saturday September 22nd.
