Kansas State Pulls Away from Kansas in Sunflower Showdown

Manhattan, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Collin Klein threw for 129 yards and ran for 116 more with a total of four touchdowns to lead Kansas State to a 56-16 win over in-state rival Kansas in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. John Hubert ran for 101 yards and had a career high four rushing scores. Kansas led 7-0 and 14-7 in the first half before the Wildcats took a halftime lead 21-14 at the break. The Wildcats scored 28 third quarter points and blew the game open to lead 49-21 heading into the final quarter. Kansas was led by Dayne Crist, who threw for 189 yards and a score. The Jayhawks committed five turnovers, with four coming in the second half.

Kansas State is now ranked No. 5 in the Coaches Poll, and No. 6 in the AP Top 25. The Wildcats (5-0, 2-0) will travel to face Iowa State at 11 am Saturday. Kansas (1-4, 0-2) host Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
