Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – On senior night at Clint Lightner Field the seniors produced leadership in their final regular season game and last Western Athletic Conference game for the season with a split with Great Bend. After losing a 5 inning 14-3 blowout in game one to the Panthers, the seniors stepped up and produced a gem in their final home game on the season, coming back to beat Great Bend 3-2 in the night-cap in a gutty performance both pitching and defensive play. The victory by the Buffaloes left Great Bend in a tie with Hays for the WAC title on 2013. Senior pitcher Edgar Montoya went the distance in the 2nd game and got the win, but it was senior 2nd baseman Jonathon Guerrero that produced a stellar defensive play on the final out of the game in the top of the 7th to seal the victory. Buffalo Head Coach Bill Wilson talks about the huge turn around in the 2nd game and the play of his seniors in their final home appearance this year.
