MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) – Kansas State basketball coach Bruce Weber says a point guard from Virginia has signed a national letter of intent with the Wildcats, making him the school’s fifth signee in 2013. Nigel Johnson averaged 17.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season at Riverdale Baptist School in Upper Marlboro, Md., where the Crusaders won the inaugural Capital Beltway League title. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound point guard from Ashburn, Va., joins Neville Fincher, Marcus Foster, Wesley Iwundu and Jevon Thomas in this year’s recruiting class. Weber says Johnson has great quickness and athleticism and has the ability to both make plays and score. He played in the same AAU program as former Wildcats Michael Beasley, Rodney McGruder, Jamar Samuels and Dominique Sutton.
