Night to forget; Bandits run ruled in regionals

Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-You might think Garden City would have a considerable advantage in the 14-and-under, Babe Ruth Midwest regional baseball tournament. After all, their commute to Lightner Stadium was nothing more than a late-evening jog. Unfortunately mileage didn’t mean much as North Dakota run ruled the Bandits 16-3 in five innings on Saturday night. 

North Dakota jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Finney County even knew what him them. Starting pitcher Nick Laureles couldn’t find the strike zone in his inning of work. The righty was yanked after he allowed seven runs (six earned) on three hits; he threw 60 pitches.  

Unfortunately the guys behind Laureles didn’t help the cause. Travis Brunson’s team committed six errors. 

The loss drops Garden City into an elimination game Sunday at 3 pm vs. Oskaloosa.
