(westernkansasnews.com) It’s a nightmare scenario. Milk prices approaching eight dollars. Ice cream, cheese and other dairy products could follow. That’s what awaits all consumers if a new farm bill is not in place by December 31st. The good news? Mike Bodenhausen with the Kansas Dairy Association does not think it’ll reach that point.
Bodenhausen says right now a 1949 parity formula for milk would kick in if we reach 2014 without a farm deal. Bodenhausen wants a Dairy Security Act in any new farm bill, something that could wipe away the parity formula for good.
