Vicki Lea Micheau, 67 of Garden City, Kansas died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at her home in Garden City. She was born July 30, 1946 in Liberal, Kansas the daughter of William “Bill” & Ferne (Rich) Traver.

Vicki grew up in Hugoton, Kansas and attended Hugoton Schools. After graduating from Hugoton High School in 1964, Vicki attended Emporia State University and Manhattan Christian College. She later earned her Bachelor’s degree from Friends University in 2006. On November 11, 1967,

Vicki married John Micheau in Hugoton, Kansas. They lived in Liberal, Kansas before moving to Charleston, South Carolina and later to Amarillo, Texas. They moved to Garden City in 1989 and have lived in Garden City since. Vicki worked at Trident Hospital in Charleston, S.C. and has worked at St. Catherine Hosital in materials management since she moved to Garden City. She was a member of Bible Christian Church in Garden City where she helped with Vacation Bible School. Vicki enjoyed bowling, reading, taking care of animals, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son John Micheau II & wife Paula of Winfield, Kansas; her mother Ferne Traver of Hugoton, Kansas; a brother Roger Traver of Joplin, Missouri; two sisters Ruthie Winget of Hugoton, Kansas and Beth Stipe of Amarillo, Texas; and four grandchildren Amanda Janzen, Amber Defore, Alexa Defore, & Joey Defore. Vicki is preceded in death by her husband John who died on November 24, 1995. She is also preceded in death by her father.

Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Pastor Jeff Starkey officiating.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City.

The family requests memorials given to Bible Christian Church or the Finney County Humane Society both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
