Barbara Ann Briggs, 82 of Garden City died Monday, December 23, 2013 at Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City. She was born November 27, 1931 in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Everett & Bessie (Angel) Reeder.  

Barbara grew up in Keokuk, Iowa where she attended school. In February 1951 she married Maurice R. Briggs in Wayland, Missouri. They moved to Amy, Kansas in 1959. They also lived in Quinter, Kansas for a short time before moving to Garden City in the early 1960’s. Barbara has lived in Garden City since. She worked at Eads True Value and Woolworths before starting her work with St. Catherine Hospital and Sienna Medical Clinic. Barbara worked as a Ward Clerk for more than 25 years. She enjoyed her dogs, reading, and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include a daughter Debra & husband Gary Hardwick of Ferndale, Washington; 3 sons Steven & wife Pat Briggs, Ronald Briggs, and Kent & wife Jean Briggs all of Garden City; a daughter-in-law Donna Briggs of Scott City, Kansas; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Maurice, who died on July 8, 2010. She is also preceded is death by her parents; a son Bruce Briggs; 2 brothers Leonard Reeder and Raymond Reeder; and 2 sisters Mary Ellenberg and Myrtle Reeder.

Visitation: noon to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday , at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. 
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City with Chaplain Doug Williams officiating.
Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. 
The family requests memorials given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
