Gerald Allen Cole
Gerald Allen Cole, age 76, died Friday, December 13, 2013 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born May 1, 1937 at Lakin the son of Allen Gilbert & Emma Catherine (Arends) Cole. Gerald was married to Rita Ealey in 1959. She preceded him in death. He married Joy Sharon Brown in 1977. She preceded him in death.
Gerald grew up in Lakin and graduated from Lakin High School. He served in the U.S. Army after graduating high school. After his discharge he went to a technical college to learn to be a machinist. He moved to Berthoud, Colorado and worked as a machinist for Storage Technology and Ball Aerospace in Boulder, Colorado. In 2009 he returned to Lakin. Gerald enjoyed fishing, hunting & reading wildlife magazines. He was a member of St Anthony Catholic Church of Lakin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, 1 son- Ricky Dean Cole & 1 brother- Larry Cole.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Christe Cole of Denver, Colorado; ‘ 2 sisters, Kay Elliott of Lakin, and Alicia Huckstadt of Wichita.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at St Anthony Catholic Church with Father Mike Helms officiating.
Interment: Lakin Cemetery with graveside rites by Kansas Army Reserves National Guard & Garden City Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday at the St Anthony Catholic Church.
Memorial contributios may be given to Gerald Cole Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
