Barbara E. Snyder
Barbara E. Snyder, 76, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City. She was born and raised in Moorehead City, North Carolina. In 1976 she moved to San Jose, California and attended Evergreen Valley College. In 1982 Barbara and her daughters moved back to Moorehead City, NC, where Barbara was an advocate for battered women. She assisted in the founding of a battered women’s shelter in Carteret County and in 1993 received the Business Woman of the Year Award in Moorehead City. Barbara moved to Garden City in 1997 to be near her daughters. She enjoyed reading, sewing and being with her family. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, William Lynch and Eugene Lynch.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Victoria Barrington, Moorehead City, NC; Lisa Digges and Kimberly McKenna, both of Garden City, and Melanie Fischer of Hays; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara E. Snyder Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
