Broncbusters split with Cloud College

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Community College basketball teams split with Cloud County on Saturday night at the Perryman Athletic Complex. The GCCC women won 67-63, sweeping the two games from Cloud County this year and  improving their record in the Jayhawk West tom 7-4.  Zantaya Davis finished with eight points and 12 rebounds while Sandra Davis chipped in with 14.   All this despite four different Thunderbirds scored at least 10 points.  In the end, GCCC Coach Nick Salazar was pleased his team showed what they were made of.

Women’s highlights

In the men’s game Garden City could not close out a stretch of four games over seven days with a win, losing to Cloud County 56-51.  Both teams are now tied for fifth place in the division at 5-6 with just three conference games left.  The top four teams get to host a first round game in the conference tournament.  The T-birds outrebounded the Broncbusters 38-32.  At least nine different players scored for Cloud County led by Lionel Gomis who had 11.  Garden City added eight points from Jeremy Wilson who hit on eight of his 10 foul shots.

Men’s highlights

Garden City is back on the road at Pratt this Wednesday.  Tip-off is set for 6pm with the woman’s game.  The men’s game will follow.
