Eight Buffs ink letters of intent

Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Every now and then, a special class of kids passes through their local high school. The eight seniors on stage Wednesday at Garden City High School were no exception.

More than a half doze Buffaloes signed their letters-of-intent to play sports at the next level, including two cross-country runners headed to Division I schools.

Seniors Alex Miller and Kayla Doll are headed to Kansas State. The duo teamed with fellow senior Chelsea Jackson, who inked with Ft. Hays State, to form one of the most dominate running teams in the state of Kansas.

Buffs quarterback Greyson Tempel officially signed with Pittsburg State. The multi-threat signal caller says that he will probably red shirt his freshman season.

The surprise of the day might have been Tempel’s twin brother Dustin, who announced his intentions to play football for Matt Miller at Garden City Community College. The shock wasn’t the selection; it was that he didn’t end up side-by-side with his brother. The Busters plan on using him as a slot receiver.

Offensive lineman Montana Fuller and safety Hunter Delgado, who missed the entire 2013 football season after suffering a season-ending injury in the team’s lone scrimmage, elected to play for Rion Rhodes and Hutch next year. Both are expected compete for starting jobs right away.

Then there was senior volleyball player Taylor Lineberger, who adapted nicely to a new system under first-year Head Coach Shandra Sanders. Now she goes from one Sanders to another-inking with Harvey Sanders and Garden City Community College. Yes Harvey is the husband of the high school coach, which makes it a very unique transition.
