Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The new education funding bill is passed and will be signed by Governor Sam Brownback. Not everyone is please with it especially when it removes teacher tenure.
State Representative John Doll is a former teacher and is worried that now the bill has passed, some good teachers could become victims.
Doll says without tenure this scenario is more likely. Doll says tenure was never debated and only became added to the final version of the bill.
Doll says legislators were there until 3 Sunday morning and the final vote took place around 9:30 or 10 am. July 1st was the actual deadline set by the State Supreme Court for legislative action to make good on education funding.
