Home cooking pays off; GCHS soccer blows out TMP Hays

Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews)-All Buffalo fans can say is it’s about time.

For the first time all season, Garden City girls soccer dawned their home jerseys in a 5-0 win over TMP Hays Tuesday afternoon at Buffalo Stadium.

“As I always say, soccer is won in the midfield,” Coach Josue Negron said. “We did well in that aspect today.”

The Last time Negron and Joaquin Padilla coached a home soccer game-last fall in a playoff match against Lawrence Free State. This was long overdue. So it came as no surprise how quickly Garden City got off the mats-scoring in the 14th minute on Tiffany Butler’s unassisted goal.

The next few minutes belonged to Amber Miller, who scored two goals in a span of three minutes before Megan Martinez capped the first-half scoring with an unassisted score in the 29th minute.

Miller tacked on her third goal of the night in the 66th minute capping the scoring.

Sophomore goal keeper Ashley Richmond, who swatted away two shots:
