Buster soccer fall short; local sports roundup

Iola, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-When Charles Long took over the Buster women’s soccer team, he knew there would be a steep learning curve. But if you’ve had a chance to watch, you know progress is being made.

Sara Mendoza put the Busters in front just five minutes in, but unbeaten Allen County took it from there-scoring in the 20th and 65th minutes to score a 2-1 victory Wednesday afternoon.

Taryn Huckabay and Lexi Godlove netted the tying and go-ahead goals for the Red Devils who improved to 3-0-1 with the win. The Busters dropped to 2-4-1.

Allen County out shot Garden City 26-19. Buster goalie Ashlie Rojas was sensational-recording 19 saves.
