Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Last week The American Academy of Pediatrics asked school districts across the country to consider starting school later in day around 8:30. The association reports many teens are getting less than seven hours of sleep a night. Although he believes kids should get more rest, Dodge City Superintendent Alan Cunningham thinks making a change will cause other problems.
Cunningham also has concerns about how late extra curricular activities would go by pushing back the start of school.
The economy is strong in our region and many companies fill their vacancies quickly. One area where this is not the case, finding enough school bus drivers.
Cunningham says Garden City and Liberal are in similar circumstances. Garden City recently contracted with a private company to hire five drivers on a temporary basis.
