Scott City hits the road to Goodland

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–After tonight, it’s hard to believe that the regular season will be 1/3 over. Scott City will hit the road for a second straight Friday to face the Goodland Cowboys in a GWAC matchup.

The Beavers enter tonight with a 2-0 record, 1-0 in the Great West Activities Conference, after their 59-19 road win at Colby last Friday night. Scott City scored on their first six possessions of the game, and took a 17-7 lead after the first quarter, and a 38-7 lead at the break. The Beaver defense also forced five turnovers, and did not give up any passing yards on six Colby attempts, with two interceptions. Scott City racked up 550 yards, including 350 on the ground.

Goodland comes in with a 1-1 record, 0-1 in the GWAC, following their 55-14 loss at Holcomb last Friday night in a matchup that featured the Cowboys against their former coach Kent Teeter, and former teammate Trey Teeter. After a scoreless first period, Holcomb poured it on Goodland, scoring 28 second quarter points to take a 28-6 lead at the half, and tacked on 27 more on the Cowboys in the second half. Despite the lopsided score, gave up only 329 yards overall, 211 on the ground. Goodland committed six turnovers and had only 147 yards of offense.
