No. 18 Hutch sprinting past Busters

Garden City, Kan (westernkansasnews.com)-Buster volleyball coach Harvey Sanders wanted to see how his team would respond the second time around against his rivals from the east. Unfortunately the result was the same as it was a week ago.

Nicole Kinser recorded 18 kills and No. 18 Hutchinson rolled to a 25-17, 25-20, 25-11 victory over Garden City Monday night at the Perryman Athletic Complex.

“We showed we can compete at times,” Sanders said. “Now we need to grind and see if we can go get them in a month.”

The first two sets were ultra competitive but the final stanza was nothing more than a runaway. The Lady Dragons jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back. Then on match point, Lexi Turner blasted a kill that sent Hutchinson (15-6, 9-0) to their sixth straight victory.

The loss drops Garden City to 8-15 overall and 3-6 in conference play. They’re now in 8th place in the Jayhawk West.
