GC Officer: Stepped Up Traffic Enforcement Not About Writing Tickets

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Monday, two school resource officers with the Garden City Police Department will be able to step up traffic enforcement at the  high school. Some see this as tackling a problem, others are concerned with allowing officers this much discretion. Even though she will have the power to write tickets, Officer Brandi Unruh does not want to use it unless necessary.

Officer Unruh explains what would prompt her to issue a ticket.

Tie ups on the circle are also a concern.

Officer Brandi Unruh knows students can get tunnel vision when dismissed for the day.

One pedestrian was hit by a car which prompted implementing this new policy. Stepped up traffic enforcement begins today on school
