Guadalupe Torres, 89, died January 25, 2015 at Wichita. She was born on December 12, 1925 at the Mexican Village in Dodge City, the daughter of Jose and Sarah (Jaso) Torrez. 

Guadalupe grew up in Dodge City and was the first Queen of the Mexican Village gathering. She moved to Wichita and resided there 32 years before moving back to Dodge City. Guadalupe cleaned homes in Dodge City and was a hard worker. She was known by many as the mexican social worker. Guadalupe loved people and cooking for family and others. 

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe of Dodge City. 

Mrs. Torres is survived by four sons, Robert Florez and wife Mary of Dodge City, David Amaro of Dodge City, Richard Amaro of Topeka, and Patrick Amaro and wife Sue of Ford; three daughters, Melinda Romesburg and husband Rex of Dodge City, Lisa Amaro of Wichita, and Peggy Adame of Wichita; eight sisters, Manuela Trujillo, Isabel Kelly, Teresa Mendez, and Teresa Carol Torrez all of Dodge City, Eleanor Lacer, Josephine Moreno, and Margaret Torrez all of Wichita, and Delores Torrez of Marble Falls, Texas; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Mike, Pascual, Epemineo “Mingo, Frank and Paul Torrez; a sister, Jessie Rodriguez; and two grandchildren, Christine and Crystal. 

Vigil Service will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from Noon to 5:00 PM.
