Deverne McKenna, 87 died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Gove County Medical Center in Quinter. He was Born: May 29, 1927 in Lane County to parents Wilbur Earl & Bertha Oneta (Brower) McKenna. He married Elizabeth Anne DeLong on September 25, 1949 at El Dorado. She died on December 31, 2005.
 
He was a  member of United Methodist Church of Sharon Springs Rotary Club of Sharon Springs Tumbleweed Chorus of Colby.
 
Deverne went to the one room school- District # 32 in Lane County and hitchhiked to Amy for his 8th Grade graduation. He graduated from Dighton High School in 1945 and from the 2 year Agriculture Program at Kansas State University in 1949. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to Lane County and farmed in the Dighton area until moving to Sharon Springs in 1970. He retired as the Fertilizer Department Manager for the Wallace County Co-op. He enjoyed hunting, fishing & gardening.
 
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, 1 Brother- Delbert Wayne McKenna and 1 Granddaughter- Suzanne Elizabeth Anderson. Survivors: 2 Sons William Colin McKenna Sedan Kevin Paul McKenna Watonga, Oklahoma 3 Daughters Ellen DeAnne Bulinski Dighton Melanie Sue Baalman Dighton Maureen Elene Knox Hugoton Sister Delores Dellenbaugh Thornton, Colorado 15 Grandchildren 34 Great-Grandchildren.
