GCHS softball moves to 6-0; dismantles Goodland

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-As long as Dusti Beffort and Abbie Dart keep pitching, Garden City keeps on winning.

The senior struck out nine while allowing only one three hits, and the sophomore fanned 14 batters as the Buffaloes swept Goodland 11-1 and 13-5 Tuesday afternoon at Tangeman.

“I really like what we’re doing right now,” Head Trina Moquett said afterwards. “This was a good test for us.”

Befort made easy work of the Cowgirls in game one, mowing down six straight batters as the offense struck for six runs over the last two frames in a five-inning run rule.

In game two, it took Dart 118 pitches to finally dispose of Goodland. After building an 11-2 lead behind a two-run bomb by Rylee Crawford, the Cowgirls tagged Dart for three runs in the top of the sixth. Garden City (6-0) bounced right back in the bottom of the inning with Dart’s run-scoring single and a bases-loaded walk.
