John Green named new golf coach at GCCC (Audio)
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-When you spend more than 20 years in Texas coaching golf and running an athletics’ department, most people would be cashing in their 401 Ks and filling out AARP applications; not employment ones.
John Green is not most people.
So it was to no one’s surprise when Green, who currently serves as the Assistant Director of Residential Life at Garden City Community College, was named the Busters new golf coach on Wednesday, replacing Matthew Zedrick.
“As long as I’m healthy, I have too much to give to retire,” Green said. “I’m blessed to be able to do what I do.”
His years in the Lonestar state were spent tutoring golfers at both Frank Phillips and Clarendon Colleges. In seven seasons combined at both, his teams qualified for nationals six times and finished as high as ninth.
Buffalo Dunes Golf Pro Cole Wasinger returns to the staff and will act as Green’s assistant.
