KDOT: Increased Fines Could Persuade More People to Buckle Up

(westernkansasnews.com) As we approach the peak driving months, KDOT released a study just days ago that seat belt usage in the state is at an all-time high 86 percent. That number is up from 61 percent just a decade ago. KDOT Spokesman Kirk Hutchinson goes into the reason why.

 

 

What about the remaining 14 percent? Would increasing the seat belt fine of 10 dollars change their behavior?

That is why some have called to increase the seat belt fine. Some states have fines up to 75 dollars for failing to buckle up.
