Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It is a critical day for school districts throughout Kansas. Dodge City is one of the four districts leading the charge to get the money they say is needed for doing their jobs in educating kids. The issue of school finance is back before a three judge panel in Shawnee County. Dodge City Superintendent Alan Cunningham knows all schools are affected.
The switching over from the old funding model to block grants has added another layer of controversy. After today’s hearing it will be wait and see.
The panel has already suggested the state needs 548 million more in funding to fulfill their constitutional obligation.
