Doll Not Happy With Selective Taxes to Fill Budget Hole

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The budget is balanced, but those that smoke cigarettes are going to bear the brunt of new sin tax at 50 cents per pack extra. House Representative John Doll of Garden City does not think cigarette smokers should be the only one bearing the weight of a tax increase.

Doll was not pleased that leadership tried to hold his vote hostage.

In the House only John Ewy of Jetmore and Bud Estes of Dodge City voted for final passage.  The new taxes take effect July 1st.
