Mike Alexander, 69, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at his home in Dodge City. 

He was born March 18, 1946 at Council Grove, Kansas the son of Lynn Edgar and Ruth Kathleen (Williams) Alexander. A Dodge City area resident since 1955, moving from Council Grove, he was a salesman for Fergersons Furniture and Appliance Company for 10 years and in 1974 became a Principal Account Executive for Utilicorp/Western Power/Aquila, retiring in 2002. 

He was a past board member of the Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce and active with the Dodge City Days Rodeo. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and golfing as well as being an avid pool player. He never met a stranger and was always willing to listen. He was a very caring and generous man who cherished his family and friends. 

He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. 

On May 26, 1972, he married Monica Sprott at Cimarron. 

Survivors include: his wife, Dodge City; 4 children, Tracy Alexander, Dodge City, Scott Alexander and wife Misti, Hanston, Dr. Shelley Alexander and husband Chris Torline, Overland Park and Mindy Alexander and husband George Grieb, Lawrence, Kansas; a brother, Bill Alexander and wife Linda, Lawrence; 2 sisters, Sara Hensley and husband Lyle, Grove, Oklahoma and Beth Guest and husband Carl, Rogers, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren, Mark Alexander and wife Kabrena, Michael S. Alexander, Tyler Dick, Mason Dick, Morgan Dick, George P. Grieb, Olivia Torline, Jaxton Torline and Zaylee Maddison Alexander; and 3 great grandchildren, Kaeley Alexander, Hanna Alexander and Oliver Alexander. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Law and brother-in-law, Jim Law, II. 

Memorial service will be 10:30 am Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, with full military honors.
