School’s Crisis Management Plan Goes Through Small Changes
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The new school year in Garden City is only five weeks away, but school officials and police are already gearing up for fall. One of the areas they have addressed is making changes to the school’s crisis management plan should an intruder be reported.
School Resource Officer Brandi Unruh tells students and faculty what to do if an emergency arises. District Public Information Coordinator Roy Cessna says all involved train for this scenario.
Officer Unruh is committed to the goal of empowering students so they know how to keep safe.
Unruh says the challenge is tailoring the message to the students grade level. If an emergency does arrive the school district will pass on important information.
Cessna says calls will go out to parents if the situation is urgent.
