Ervie L.” Erv” Smith

Ervie L.” Erv” Smith, 83, died August 18, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex . He was born on November 17, 1931 near Copeland on the family farm, the son of Sam and Susie (Unruh) Smith. He grew up on the family farm and later went to Topeka after schooling and resided there for two years. He later worked at various auto body shops until 1961 when he owned and operated Erv’s Body Shop, Inc. in Dodge City. 

On March 18, 1957 Ervie married Pearl Lavon Smith in Raton. New Mexico. He loved playing with the grandchildren, fishing, bowling and was a jack of all trades. 

He attended First Assembly of God of Dodge City. 

Erv is survived by a daughter Dollie Janelle Fisher and husband Victor, Dodge City, a son Greg Smith, Wright, a daughter Janet Williams and husband Glen, Garden City, Daughter Jolene Lundeen and husband Jay, Fowler, a son Leland Smith and wife Janet, Wright, a son Robert Smith and wife Linda, Dodge City; 27 grandchildren including Angela and Mark Tolbert, Garden City, Kami and Mark Murphy, Wichita, Daniel and Shelbie Williams, Dodge City, Joseph and Rebecca Williams, Garden City, Christina Williams, Garden City, Justin and Rachelle Williams, Gunnison, Colorado,Shala and Chris Eskam, Cimarron, Cody Fisher, Joel Fisher, Davie Fisher and Callie and Brady Wiens all of Dodge City, Kaylee and Josh Wheeler, Holton, Brayden and Sarah Lundeen, Topeka, and Jacquelynn Smith, Madilynn Smith, Jesse Smith and Victoria Smith all of Dodge City, Jarred Smith, Larned, Jacob Smith, Wichita, Joshua and wife Kyndell, Dodge City, Rachel Smith, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Katie Smith, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Courtney, Candace, Jonathan, Jaden and Jordan Smith all of Wright; 22 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Unruh, Montezuma, Doris Friesen, Michigan and a brother Milton Smith, Dodge City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Pearl on November 20, 2009, four sisters, Pearl Koehn, Viola Koehn, Verda Koehn and Frances Harms and a brother Vernon Smith. 

Funeral service will be held at First Assembly of God, Dodge City on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David Graves and Jarred Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Friday, August 21, 2015 from Noon to 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to Ervie L.
