Net Gain Zero For Dodge City As They Meet Liberal For Homecoming

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It has been an interesting week for the Dodge City football team in the wake of their 53-48 loss last Friday night to Wichita Heights and prepping for tonight’s homecoming game against Liberal.  During the game the Red Demons lost one star on their defense, while seeing another star take his level of play to the next level.

For senior running back Tyler Trent his nearly 300 yard performance finished five years short of the school’s single game rushing record.  Trent’s ground attack added to a potent passing game is making it very difficult for defensive coordinators.

Trent’s 450 yards are two more than he had all of last season. The Demons are dealing with a loss too.  Junior Dylan Servis, one of their key guys upfront tore his ACL in last week’s game at Heights.  Now Coach Dave Foster and his assistance have to fill a huge hole left behind.

Servis not only led the team in tackles, but took third place at state wrestling last year.

Dodge will play host to Liberal tonight at 7 from Memorial Stadium.  The Red Demons have taken four of the last five in the rivalry, but lost 40-27 two years ago at home in a game that snapped the Redskins 19 game conference losing streak.  Pre-game coverage is 6:30 tonight on Z98 and westernkansasnews.com.
