Robert J. James Sr., 67, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at his home. 

He was born December 21, 1947 at Clayton, New Mexico, the son of Melvin “Duffy” and Shirley “Inez” (Archer) James. He had been a Bucklin resident for 8 years. 

His Favorite Childhood spot was Kenton Lake where he loved to run the foothills. Robert loved to go fishing, wood working and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He and his sons had a passion for racing that carried on throughout his life and he never went anywhere without his best friend Mater the dog. 

Survivors include: 2 sons, Robert J. James Jr. and wife Bridget, Dodge City, Richard J. James; 4 brothers, Paul James, Frank James, Boyd Glenn Archer and Kelly Archer; sister, Jeanette Robertson; 7 grandchildren, Cody Brier, Darrian Brier, Alexandria James, Alivia James, Racelynn James, Koey James and Challance James. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Neil Archer, brother, Paul “Butch” Jones. 

Memorial service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Bucklin Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Jones. Full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas at the church. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
