Vernon L. Blundell
Vernon L. Blundell, 83, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.
He was born February 21, 1932 at Lamar, Colorado, the son of James and Mamie Laura (Smart) Blundell. A Dodge City resident since 1976, moving from Coldwater, he was a truck driver.
He was a member of Abundant Life Church in Dodge City and he enjoyed story telling, horses, cattle, harvest, shooting and traveling.
On May 26, 1984, he married Dianna Mages-Stafford at Dodge City.
Survivors include: his wife, Dodge City; 5 children, Verna Wendt and husband Weylin, Gautier, Mississippi, John Blundell and wife, Charlotte, Dodge City, Jim Blundell and wife Vanita, Coldwater, Malissa Stafford, Dodge City and Heather Johnson and fiancé Brad Adams, Dodge City; a sister, Lorene Ede, Springfield, Colorado; 2 brothers, Larry Blundell and wife Patsy, Los Animas, Colorado and Rex Blundell and wife Connie, Springfield, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild,
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Carl James Blundell and Alvin Blundell and a sister, Loretta Bohlander.
Memorial service will be 10:30 am Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Abundant Life Church with Pastors Jim and Lydia Ames officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
