More TIGER Grant Money Pouring in For Repairs to SW Chief Line

La Junta, Colorado (westernkansasnews.com) It has not been officially announced, but several sources confirm one year after Garden City had their request approved now La Junta, Colorado has received a little more than 15 million dollars from a federal Tiger Grant to make additional repairs along the line for the Southwest Chief. Garden City Manager Matt Allen is happy to hear that the money will keep rail up and running in our region.

The repairs are important for both commercial and freight. Allen says the Garden City station alone serves up to seven thousand people each year.
